Getting Married

In order to be married in the Catholic Church one of the partners needs to be a baptised Catholic, and both need to be able to show they are free to marry, i.e. not bound by a previous marriage. It is wise to allow plenty of time for paperwork and other official preparations to be completed; the Church has a rule requiring six months notice of marriage. A short course of preparation for engaged couples usually needs to be attended in advance; this, too, can take a little time to complete.

Normally, we accept weddings from people living within our parish. For those living outside the parish permission will be required from the parish in which they normally reside. Parishioners getting married outside the parish or in another country will need to see one of the priests at an early stage to discuss what special preparations need to be completed.
